Why would I use a 2" recessed LED Light?

This recessed lighting fixture is a designer's dream. It comes with several finishes (see list below). This ultra-small diameter LED fixture performs the same as those big old ugly recessed cans. Besides being ultra-small, it has a great light output and excellent color rendering. It works in spaces with limited above-ceiling space.

What color is the trim?

This fixture comes with the following finishes:

How is the trim's finish?

The smooth reflector style shows off the trim's exceptionally clean finish. It does not have the "rings" or "baffles" like other recessed lights. Due to the variety of finishes, please check with us first for availability. Please email us with the color and quantity you need.

What about the light output?

We were amazed by the light output. With over 600 lumens (the light energy) spreading out from the fixture, this fixture is bright and powerful. The factory lists the beam spread at 36 degrees, and our tests show this to be true. The light output is slightly spectacular, with an excellent, bright spread. If you have a big project, we recommend buying a sample and having your electrician wire it up to see the light, as it is well worth the money. (Please note that you can not return samples). Your project is worth getting right the first time..

What is the color temperature?

The color temperature is easily selectable to 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K with the included selector switch opening up the many possibilities and applications this LED trim module can be used.

How far apart should 2 inch recessed lights be?

A good rule for placement is to divide the height of the ceiling by two. The result is the amount of space to leave between each light. For example, the spacing for an 8-foot-high ceiling would be 4 feet between each light. This rule provides good spacing for general room lighting. You may want to space the lights closer for specialty applications like a kitchen, lobby, etc. Let us know if you are downing an ample space (commercial). We have access to software for layout and photo metrics for your engineer. However, we found most applications use these extra small LED recessed lights as unique architectural lighting elements to improve the aesthetics of the space. Truthfully, spacing is more of a subjective question than an engineering one. Your lighting designer will love these ultra-small fixtures instead of those huge ugly recessed cans in your ceiling.

What about Mounting and accessories?

Please refer to our mounting and extension cord options in the link below. Depending on your installation, you may not need any mounting accessories. Instead, you will only need a hole and the power source above. For new construction, we recommend the SLIM Rough Plate. This plate is mounted on the underside of the ceiling trusses during construction. Your drywall guys will have an easy hole to run their roto-zip around for a perfect cutout. The SLIM Rough Plate is a great way to get the hole exactly where it needs to be to avoid mistakes. We recommend the Rough-In plate for drop ceilings. Otherwise, you can cut a hole and put the fixture right into it. Show these options to your electrician.

Do I need a special recessed lighting fixture for sloped ceilings?

Yes you do, and this is not it. Send us a note and we can help with the slope ceiling application.

Is this fixture dimmable?

Yes, with TRIAC Dimmers. TRIAC dimmers represent the majority of dimmers on the market today. Of the many TRIAC dimmers we tested, they all worked great! Just look for a dimmer that says "made for TRIAC dimming or compatible with LED lighting."
