4" or 6" Recessed lighting socket with pigtail and over heat sensor

Product Review (submitted on July 14, 2022):
The 32 year old "can light" in our bathroom had been oddly dim for a few years, but I just figured it my aging eyesight. However, about a month ago the bulb started turning itself off for a while after it had been on for a few minutes and I realized there was definitely an electrical problem of some sort. I verified that there was an over-heat sensor snapped into the side of can adjacent to the bulb and figured it might be the culprit. I bought this socket w/ over-heat sensor since it appeared that it would replace the original socket without any modifications, and indeed it was a perfect fit. I disengaged the old sensor which was insulated in a rectangular nylon shroud, and after carefully assessing how the shroud was snapped together, I was able to pry it open without damaging it and extract the old sensor. Lo and behold the new sensor was exactly the same size as the old one so all I had to do was position it in the shroud and pop it closed again! I snapped the sensor shroud back into position inside the can and then made the required electrical connections in the top of the can above the new socket with 2 high quality wire nuts. The bulb is now back to its original brightness and can be left on for any length of time as needed.
